Chronoswiss is unanimously recognized as the regulator specialist. Born in 1983, the brand quickly made this historical display its hallmark, with most of its collections based on this display that refers to the old days of watchmaking. Since then, Chronoswiss has been working hard to give this display a modern look, yet remaining true to […]
We got our first look at the Chronoswiss Open Gear ReSec at Baselworld 2019 and were impressed with its bold styling and integration of retrograde seconds to the regulator set-up. The guilloché dial stood out with a three-dimensional “solar” pattern that really caught the light and added to the busy look (certainly not in a […]
Chronoswiss has been manufacturing regulator wristwatches since 1987 and this ‘complication’ (or at least this specific display) has become a genuine trademark for the Lucerne-based manufacturer. A couple of years ago, Chronoswiss presented a modern 3D take on this traditional display with the Flying Regulator Open Gear. Today we are going hands-on with a bold yellow / black hand guilloché dial limited edition of the model.
Louis Erard has really gone to town with the regulator layout, converting it into a staple model in the Excellence collection. A somewhat archaic layout originally used for master clocks, the regulator display has been given a new lease of life at Louis Erard in the hands of contemporary designers like Alain Silberstein and Eric […]
Louis Erard’s Excellence collection is populated with regulators, a historic display that had fallen into disuse but that is becoming more and more prevalent in watchmaking today. Usually reinterpreted in classic design codes, Louis Erard is determined to show the regulator in a new light and has invited external designers to jazz things up. We’ve […]
The Senator Chronometer Regulator made its debut in 2013 but can trace its layout all the way back to the 1870s when the tiny Saxon town of Glashütte was an important purveyor of precision chronometers and other timekeeping instruments like regulator clocks. Let’s take a closer look at the Senator Chronometer Regulator in red gold […]
If a regulator wristwatch comes up in conversation, odds are that Chronoswiss is a part of it. The brand was first to produce a regulator wristwatch in series with the Régulateur, a simple and elegant piece that led to the company’s signature style. Rare examples of regulator wristwatches existed prior to this, but none were […]
We are always happy at MONOCHROME to see new independent brands launching. While most of the recently-launched brands were more on the entry-level side of the watchmaking scene, we can’t hide our love for hand-made movements, focus on chronometry and high-end decorations. So, it is with much pleasure that we’re today taking our first look at a new independent watchmaker named Tulloch and its inaugural creation, a superbly crafted regulator with impressive movement. Meet the Tulloch T-01 First Edition Regulator.
We recently went hands-on with the new Chronoswiss Regulator Classic collection, first introduced at Baselworld 2019 as a slight evolution of the original Regulator Classic. A new model has now joined the line with motorsport inspiration and a speedometer vibe, injecting a bit more adrenaline into the already edgier new pieces. With new dial elements […]
Somewhere in between the bold Bauhaus interpretation of the Regulator with Alain Silberstein and the more classic regulator configuration in the brand’s Excellence collection lies this collaboration with Eric Giroud. First presented at Baselworld 2019 – and the first collaboration piece with an external designer – Eric Giroud’s redesigned Excellence Regulator marks a new direction […]
