Ressence likes to do things like no other in the watchmaking industry… Its approach is both modern, technical and unique, and yet lots of traditional mechanics inside. Already impressive with its in-house orbital display of the time, Ressence decided to even improve the concept with an oiled-filled piece, with the Type 3. And then, benefiting from this distortion-free system, a dive watch was launched. For 2019, the Ressence Type 5 gets updated with a Night blue dial – relevant for a dive watch!
Now that the SIHH 2019 is over, it is time to sit down and to take a closer look at the dozens of watches that have been introduced. Overall, it has been a good year in terms of novelties – probably not the best edition ever, but still, there were some pretty interesting things to see, especially in the field of complication. This also means that the “entry-level” or “affordable” categories have been slightly forgotten by some brands. After all, SIHH means Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. Since its introduction in 2014 (or even in 2010 if you look at the very first Zero Series, which was the predecessor of this model), the Ressence Type 1 never ceased to evolve. From the lack of crown and the original display, then followed by several colours/finishing and finally the introduction of the Squared version, this watch has become an entire collection named “Air-Filled” (contrasting with the oil-filled watches). Being fast-forward-thinkers (just look at Type 2 to understand), Ressence thought it was about time to give its emblematic watch a touch of modernity. Meet the new Type 1 Slim.
