Introducing – A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase “25th Anniversary”

Prior to the SIHH, A. Lange & Söhne announced a new limited edition celebrating the 25th anniversary of what certainly is its most emblematic watch, the Lange 1 – which was born in 1994 and part of the inaugural “relaunch” collection. However, the brand isn’t only celebrating one model but in fact the entire Lange 1 collection. This isn’t one watch that will be introduced but 10 models, all along the year. Based on this beautiful modern version, here’s the A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase “25th Anniversary”.

Review – A. Lange & Söhne Richard Lange Jumping Seconds White Gold and Black Dial

Packed with historical references, bold aesthetics, spectacular mechanics and uncompromising quality, the new white gold iteration of the Richard Lange Jumping Seconds with its black dial is a watch you won’t forget. A watch that honours the past but looks undeniably contemporary, the Richard Lange Jumping Seconds marries the tradition of scientific observations watches cultivated in Dresden with the spectacle of jumping seconds on the dial powered by a movement bolstered by constant force escapement, stop seconds, a zero-reset mechanism and an end-of-power indication.

Hands-on – A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon with Pink Gold (Salmon) Dial

Montblanc, Audemars, Patek and more… Salmon/pink dials are THE trend for the 2018/2019 collection. Even though not entirely novel, we’ve never encountered so many watches with pink-coloured dials as we have this year. Don’t get us wrong, we actually love salmon dials here, at MONOCHROME (see Frank’s love letter here). There are, however, different ways to execute a salmon dial and when it decided to do its first real pink-coloured timepiece, A. Lange & Söhne took the high-end road… really high-end, with the new Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon and its solid pink gold dial.

Recap – MONOCHROME’s Top 10 Watches of the SIHH 2019

Now that the SIHH 2019 is over, it is time to sit down and to take a closer look at the dozens of watches that have been introduced. Overall, it has been a good year in terms of novelties – probably not the best edition ever, but still, there were some pretty interesting things to see, especially in the field of complication. This also means that the “entry-level” or “affordable” categories have been slightly forgotten by some brands. After all, SIHH means Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. Thus, you won’t be surprised to see that our selection of the 10 best watches of the show is quite “high-end” focused.

SIHH 2019 – A. Lange & Söhne Langematik Perpetual in Honey Gold

A. Lange & Söhne reserves its proprietary honey gold – a more scratch-resistant gold alloy that has a rich, warm glow – for a few selected watches only. Since 2010, only seven limited editions have been ‘dressed’ in this special material. For 2019, a limited edition of 100 pieces of the Langematik Perpetual will be […]

SIHH 2019 – A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Date

It is hard to believe that Lange’s most daring watch, the Zeitwerk, has been launched in 2009. Several variants have been added to the collection since, all with chiming complications – Striking Time, Minute Repeater, Decimal Strike. On the occasion of its tenth anniversary, Lange’s first mechanical wristwatch with a precisely jumping digital display is endowed with a new manufacture calibre featuring a surprising extra function – and this time, it isn’t a chiming complication. Indeed, a glass ring date has been added to what is now named the A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Date.
