Hands-on – Breguet Reine de Naples 8908, a Gold Easter Egg for a Queen

During our meeting with Breguet at Baselworld 2018, the brand pointed out that Breguet’s women’s watches account for a full 40% of the brand’s sales and that one of the current best-sellers worldwide is the Reine de Naples Ref. 8918 of 2017. The goose that lays the golden eggs at Breguet is the Reine de Naples watch, the distinctive egg-shaped watch that has appeared in countless jewellery variations since its debut in 2002. Revisited this year with Ref. 8908, this Reine de Naples automatic ladies’ model is housed in an 18k rose gold case set with diamonds and features a dreamy Tahitian mother-of-pearl dial, a moon phase complication, and a power reserve indicator.

Baselworld 2018 – Breguet Partners with the Race for Water Foundation and Unveils A Special Edition Marine Watch

Breguet and the Race for Water Foundation just announced that they will join forces to support the Odyssey 2017 – 2021 on its mission for the oceans. The Race for Water Foundation is a charity dedicated to the preservation of water and the ocean in particular in view of the threat from plastic pollution.

Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique 5367 “Grand Feu” Enamel

In 2013, Breguet went on the technical side with the ref. 5377, the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique. It was and still is one of the thinnest automatic tourbillon watches ever created (only surpassed by this 1980s AP) and remains a proper technical feat, with its self-winding movement “charged” by a peripheral rotor. Complex inside, yet sleek outside. As a preview of the Baselworld 2018 collection, the brand introduces a new and even cleaner version, the Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique 5367, now with “Grand Feu” Enamel dial.

In 2007, the Breguet Boutique in Ginza, Tokyo, opened its doors for the first time. Situated in one of the world’s most expensive and elegant luxury shopping destinations, it has quickly become a popular destination for Japan’s most discerning watch connoisseurs. Following extensive renovations in 2014, which included a substantial expansion in size, the Breguet Boutique is celebrating its 10^th anniversary this year with the unveiling of a stunning blue-dialled watch created exclusively for the Japanese market, aptly named: the Breguet Classique 5175 “Ginza Anniversary” special edition. And there’s a lot to love in this watch!

Women’s Watch Wednesday – Breguet Reine de Naples Mini ref. 8928, a Watch Fit for a “Petite” Queen

Those familiar with Breguet’s great history know that its founder, Abraham-Louis Breguet, was watchmaker to French royalty. In fact, he made the first women’s wristwatch back in the early 1800’s – for Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples and sister of Napoleon Bonaparte. The request was for a “thin, oblong repeater watch with a silver dial and Arabic numerals, mounted on a wristlet of hair woven with gold threads.” Abraham-Louis Breguet received the request in 1810 and delivered the watch in December 1812, according to brand archives. Unfortunately, that watch has since been lost, but not its memory. It was just about a decade-and-a-half ago that Breguet honored that first wristwatch with a dedicated collection: Reine de Naples – and for 2017, some new models are offered, including the “Mini” ref. 8928.
