Baselworld 2019 – Best of Show, including a Plethora of Tourbillons and another World-Record

Baselworld 2019 has come to an end. As always, it has been a rather packed event, despite a strange impression with the absence of Swatch Group’s brands, several other brands and an unusually high number of brands presenting their watches in different locations around the official ‘Messe’. If the mood was good overall, the future of the show was on everyone’s lips with speculations surrounding the attendance of the LVMH brands, Breitling and many more to the next editions of the fair. Now the dust has settled, team MONOCHROME looks back and chooses the best of show…

Baselworld 2019 – The Retro-Styled Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback now in Pink Gold

Last year, at Baselworld 2018, Carl F. Bucherer introduced a new, slightly modified version of its Manero Flyback. By changing the dial and the strap, the brand brought another (thick) layer of coolness to this chronograph, with retro-inspired, rally-oriented details. This year, using the same ingredients as a base, Carl F. Bucherer offers a warm, […]

Baselworld 2019 – Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Chrono BiCompax Annual

If Carl F. Bucherer is nowadays mainly known for its pioneering use of the Peripheral rotor – see our in-depth article here – the brand has more to offer than this. The latest addition to the Carl F. Bucherer Heritage collection is an ode to the 1950s regarding its design but is a modern take on watchmaking, as combining an automatic chronograph with the practicality of the annual calendar. Meet the Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Chrono BiCompax Annual.

Video – The Carl F. Bucherer Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral Fully Explained

Today, MONOCHROME’s video invites you on a trip to Lucerne, Switzerland, the home of Carl F. Bucherer – and close to the brand’s manufacture in Lengnau. One of the unique characteristics of Carl F. A Technical Perspective – The Peripheral Rotor, a Smart and Stylish Solution

Since 2009 and the introduction of the Carl F Bucherer Calibre A1000, peripheral rotors are getting more and more in vogue. With this smart and stylish solution, the winding mass is an annular segment mounted and swinging around the movement, instead of a centrally mounted oscillating weight rotating over it. This offers an unobstructed view of the movement along with providing the convenience of automatic winding. In addition, peripheral rotors allow watchmakers to design thinner self-winding watches, without adding to their thickness with an oscillating weight rotating over the movement.

Review – Carl F. Bucherer Patravi TravelTec Black – A First Class GMT Watch for Today’s Globetrotter

The TravelTec is one of the few watches in the business whose name actually matches its functions: a highly technical travel watch. Carl F. Bucherer’s Patravi TravelTec upped the antes in the GMT arena when it was introduced in 2005 with a movement capable of displaying three time zones coupled with a chronograph. Now the globetrotting star of the Patravi collection, the TravelTec has adapted to the changing panorama of materials and also comes in this sleek matte black version with an integrated rubber strap. Although the designers might have had stealth aesthetics in mind with the dark DLC finish, this multi-purpose 46.6mm piece will not fly under the radar. Endowed with brawns and brains, the powerful masculine case of the TravelTec Black houses CFB’s automatic chronograph movement.
