Glashütte Original Makes Colourful Showing At The 67th Berlinale

From the 11th of February through to the 21st of February German city Berlin once again played host to the 67th edition of the Berlinale International Film Festival, culminating with the star-studded Award Ceremony on Saturday evening. This year German watch-maker Glashütte Original shared the spotlight as principal partner of the Berlinale for the first time (although it has already been involved as a sponsor for several years), hosting the Golden Bear Lounge and presenting the inaugural Glashütte Original Documentary Award complete with a 50,000 Euro Award. The Saxon manufacture also took the opportunity to show off its new Sixties Iconic Square collection featuring five distinctively colourful dials.

The Very-Retro Zenith Heritage 146 Chronograph El Primero (and why it just rocks…)

Here’s the deal: an iconic chronograph movement, automatic, with column-wheel, high-beat frequency and very pleasant architecture to be seen on the caseback, a small diameter, a retro-inspired design, a clean dial, bi-compax layout, a no-date dial, all that wrapped in a pretty designed case and with the name of one of the greatest manufactures printed on the dial… What is there not to love in this description? Not much, admittedly. Well, this is what you’ll get with the Zenith Heritage 146 Chronograph El Primero, and yes, it is a pretty amazing watch, in fact it could well be the El Primero many were waiting for.

REVIEW – The Ateliers deMonaco Admiral Chronograph Flyback Saphir

If some of you might know this watch manufacture by now (thanks to a coverage here, at Monochrome), Ateliers deMonaco is clearly not the most famous of them all… Which, in all honesty, is rather a pity, as the brand has a lot to offer. Forget about the affiliation with the Frédérique Constant Group. Ateliers deMonaco plays in a different league (with a collection that comprises tourbillons, minute repeaters or Hallmark of Geneva watches…) and their latest creation has some appeal, both aesthetically and technically. Omega Baselworld 2017 – Our Vision of What COULD Be The Speedmaster 60th Anniversary

This year will be a very important year for Omega, as it will be the 60th anniversary of the iconic Speedmaster (1957 – 2017) – you know, the Moonwatch, the watch that went on the Moon and that is flight qualified by NASA… As you can imagine, the question won’t be if Omega will launch or not some dedicated watches, to commemorate this jubilee. They will, no debate! The big question is: what will they launch at Baselworld 2017? What could be the Speedmaster 60th Anniversary? We, at Monochrome, couldn’t let such an opportunity to make predictions without an answer. And here is our vision for the possible Omega Speedmaster 60th Anniversary…
