A few days ago, at the opening of Baselworld 2017, we’ve been introducing to you the star of the show for Seiko collectors, the super-vintage, super-faithful and super-cool reedition of the Seiko Diver 62Mas, under the reference SLA017. This watch is superb, but it has two issues: a rather hefty price and a limited production. So, for those with a smaller budget or those who won’t be able to get the limited edition, Seiko will also have a more accessible and more modern interpretation of the iconic 62Mas, the Seiko Prospex Diver SPB051 and SPB053.
If there’s one category of watches Seiko is famous for, it has to be divers. Think 62Mas, SKX007, Turtle or Samurai… All are simply icons, and affordable ones on top of that. But what if you want more? More precision, more quality, more luxurious feel, more style, more horological pleasure and more Professional specifications? Well, this year at Baselworld 2017, you’ll have something Grand… Here are the Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 36000 Professional 600m Diver’s (SBGH255 – SBGH257) – high-end, titanium, pro-oriented, high-beat dive watches with a proper appeal.
While most might know about the square design of Bell & Ross watches and their strong link with aviation and military purposes, we should all remember that this was not the only field where the brand has been active. Indeed, in 1997, Bell & Ross became the leader in professional diving watches with the launch of the HYDROMAX®, a watch capable to resist to 11,100 meters of water, thanks to an innovative case entirely filled with oil. So, to all of those who will say that Bell & Ross don’t know anything about dive watches, here’s the proof that they are wrong. And for Baselworld 2017, the brand goes back to its roots, with the Bell & Ross BR03-92 Diver, their first square dive watch.
Seiko’s reputation as a leader in dive watches makes simply no debate. Wether we talk affordable pieces or professional tools, the Japanese brand masters watches for divers since now over 50 years. Actually, the whole story about the Seiko divers started in 1965, with a watch that now became an icon of watchmaking, the 62Mas (ref. 6217). And it is with a strong excitement that we are about to present you the piece that collectors were waiting for so many years: the Seiko 62Mas Reedition Ref. SLA017, a perfect reinterpretation of Seiko’s first ever dive watch, modernized to meet Prospex standards. And it doesn’t come alone, as a pair of contemporary re-interpretations will also be part of the package (ref. SPB051, SPB053) – but this will come in a second article.
This year, the Geneva-Based manufacture Patek Philippe is celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of its modern icons, the Aquanaut. As part of a new collection, the brand adds some color and a bit of boldness to a model that have always been playing on the discreet side, with a 42mm and blue dial Patek Philippe Aquanaut Jumbo 5168G.
Here it is… The big one for Rolex this year, the one that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the model, the new Sea-Dweller Single Red. More than expected to be launched, Rolex actually surprises us with a watch featuring a vintage reference. Unusual… But in fact, besides this red line, there is much more to be seen in this new Rolex Sea-Dweller Single Red Ref. 126600.
The Tudor Heritage Black Bay needs no introduction anymore. Despite its short life (launched in 2012), this watch made it to the status of modern icon, known by most, respected by many, envied by some. This watch has been the main contributor to Tudor’s recent success, and the brand quickly capitalized on this status, creating many variations. The latest to date will surprise, not because of its nice brushed-steel bezel and its usual vintage-inspired details but because, for the first time, a Tudor Heritage Black Bay features a calendar function. Introducing the Tudor Heritage Black Bay Steel 79730, now WITH DATE.
There are icons, and there are legends… The Omega 1957 Trilogy is one of the few legends of watchmaking, a series of watches so important that it still defines the current Omega collection. These watches are capital, not only for the brand, but for the industry. The Omega 1957 Trilogy (Speedmaster CK2915, Seamaster 300 CK2913, Railmaster CK2914) celebrates its 60th anniversary with the launch for Baselworld 2017 of a simply stunning trilogy of commemorative watches. Believe us, these 3 will be the stars of the show. Introducing the Omega Seamaster 300 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Master Chronometer 39mm, the Omega Railmaster 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Master Chronometer 38mm and the Omega Speedmaster 60th Anniversary Limited Edition 38.6mm.
