However, there was one […]

Introducing – DOXA SUB 300T Divingstar “Poseidon Edition”

Doxa is a watch brand that is mainly known to ‘those in the know’. Dive watch enthusiasts for instance. The brand is best known for the orange-dial dive watches they manufactured in the 1960’s and 1970’s when scuba diving became a popular sport. We’re talking about the iconic (and I’m not exaggerating) Doxa Sub 300T. In the past years, Doxa has recreated several highly collectable pieces from the 1960’s and 1970’s, like the Sub 300 50th Anniversary and the Sub 300 Black Lung. And now there’s another recreation of an old and highly collectable Doxa, again one that collectors will line up for. Here’s the Sub 300T Divingstar ‘Poseidon Edition’.

Review – Doxa SUB-300 “Black Lung”, Reissue of a Rare Prototype for Aqua-Lung (With Historical Insights)

The Doxa SUB-300 is regarded as one of the most important watches amongst the diving community. Launched in 1966, it was certainly not the first dive watch (see the 1953 Blancpain Fifty Fathoms or the 1953 Rolex Submariner), however, it was part the first professional dive watches and, for that, it is historically important. This year, Doxa follows up the success of 2016’s sold-out 50th Anniversary SUB 300 Professional with another vintage-reissue, this time bearing the famous Aqua-Lung logo. Here’s the Doxa SUB-300 “Black Lung”, a tribute to an ultra-rare 1967 vintage Doxa prototype.

The Doxa Sub300 50th Anniversary – A step back in time to the glory days of the dive watch

At Baselworld 2016, Doxa introduced its 50th Anniversary Sub300 model, a great dive watch with unquestionable pedigree. So we, at Monochrome, eagerly waited for a prototype to arrive at the HQ for a review. Once a black-dial Sharkhunter variant received, we immediately put it to its paces comparing, debating and discussing about it. That is the purpose of this article: make you understand how important and cool this watch is. However, before I proceed with my assessment, I feel that a short overview of the history of the company is needed to put things into a proper perspective.
