Hands-on – Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur Monaco Yacht Show

Ulysse Nardin unveils a new version of its Marine Torpilleur to coincide with the annual Monaco Yacht Show (MYS). Renowned as the most prestigious superyacht show (to give you an idea of the kind of crowd it attracts the MYS offers a helicopter shuttle service), Ulysse Nardin will sail into Port Hercules for the event with a limited-edition Marine Torpilleur model. Capitalising on this high-profile event and the luxury-loving crowd it attracts, Ulysse Nardin showcases its latest Marine Torpilleur Monaco Yacht Show Limited Edition. Essentially the same case and chronometer-certified movement as the Torpilleur models introduced in 2017, the novelty here is the Grand Feu enamel dial and inscriptions relating to the MYS.

Value Proposition – Accessible Brand Ophion Launches the OPH 786 Velos with Superb Dials and Cases by Voutilainen

Ophion is a rather young brand that launched in 2015, with a watch that already had quite some arguments. Accessible, well-designed and powered by a nice movement, we were pleasantly surprised. Then came a second model, the OPH 786, and from that point onward, we knew that something special was happening at Ophion. Great CNC guilloché dials, classic looks, superb decoration of the movement… And with a highly competitive price. Today, Ophion up the game again with the new OPH 786 Vélos, which features a newly-designed case made by Voutilainen (just that) and new dial options… but still a reasonable price.

Review – The Battle of Elegant Time-Only Watches Part 2 – Grand Seiko Hand-Wound SBGW231

This SBGW231, which belongs to Grand Seiko’s Elegance Collection, might not have the most seductive name, but this steel dress watch with classic aesthetics and sizing, impeccable hand-polished features, a superlative mechanical movement, and an attractive price is a rock-solid candidate for our upcoming battle of elegant time-only watches. It might not catch your eye in pictures and come across as disarmingly simple, but believe us this watch is absolutely stunning in the metal and makes up for its sobriety with refined details that underline the Japanese quest for perfection.
