Value Proposition – Arcturus Watches, Art Deco-inspired Timepieces With Opulent Style

There are literally dozens of new micro-brands launching every week. Thanks to crowdfunding processes such as Kickstarter, anyone with a strong interest or even a passion for watches can now fulfil his dream and create his own timepiece. We, at MONOCHROME, have an eye on this, as it might represent the future and we are aware that not all our readers can afford 5-digit luxury watches. Lastest project we discovered: Arcturus Watches and their timepiece, the LC-1. Opulent, art-deco inspired, original… Let’s have a look.

Introducing – Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Self-Winding 36mm – The Ultimate Unisex Watch?

Vacheron Constantin introduces its third iteration of the Patrimony Self-Winding 36mm, this time in white gold with an automatic movement. Designed to swing it both ways, the new model will certainly be well received by women who appreciate a mechanical movement and who prefer the timeless elegance of a classic, round case, and a simple, refined dial. Unlike so many women’s watches that lure us with their sparkling gem-set surfaces and sugary motifs, Vacheron’s Patrimony 36mm proposes a timepiece that might seem Calvinist in appearance, but which is full of appealing details that will win converts from all denominations. But first a quick word on unisex watches.

The New Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Annual Calendar

Earlier this week at the inaugural Watches & Wonders Miami, the under-the-radar-watch-manufacturer Parmigiani Fleurier debuted its new Tonda Annual Calendar. A subtle yet stylish evolution of the Tonda Quator, launched by the brand in 2011, the new Tonda Annual Calendar pairs a complex mechanical movement with an attractive and easy to read display, presenting a viable alternative to the more mainstream brands. We were lucky enough to get a preview of the watch before its official launch and it did not disappoint.

A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Daymatic Tokyo Boutique Birthday Edition

When it comes to limited editions by A. Lange & Söhne, you know it’s going to be rare, you know it is not a common trick used by the brand and you know it will end up being highly collectable. If, in addition to that, the watch looks as beautiful as the one we have today, what not to love… 10 years ago, the Saxon brand opened its Ginza-based boutique, in the heart of the world’s largest city: Tokyo. To celebrate this, here is the A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Daymatic Tokyo Boutique Birthday Edition.

IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Edition “150 Years”

With IWC introducing so many limited-edition references for its 150th anniversary this year (there are 27 in total), it’s been hard work picking a favourite. The blue dial Portugieser Chronograph is certainly high on the list, as of course is the Tribute to Pallweber. If I had to choose just one, however, I think it would have to be the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Edition “150 Years” (IW503405). Striking design, practical complexity and a dial I could literally stare at for hours, it really does offer a lot of watch for the money.

Pre-Baselworld 2018 – Blancpain Villeret Quantième Complet GMT

The combination of a complete calendar (or Quantième Complet in French) with a moonphase indication and a GMT function is a classic at Blancpain. Indeed, this interesting and practical combination of complications established itself as a mainstay with its original debut in 2002. Even more, the complete calendar is a signature display of the brand since its re-inception in the 1980s. For Baselworld 2018, the Le Brassus-based manufacture reinterprets this classic in a modern way, with a redesigned dial, an improved movement and more practicality. Here is the Blancpain Villeret Quantième Complet GMT.
