The Superb Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8-Day Now in Rose Gold & Sparkling Black Dial (Ref. SBGD202)

In a recent personal piece, our editor-in-chief Frank gave credits (no to say it was a love letter) to the superb Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8-Day, of course based on the platinum / white dial version that Grand Seiko (don’t call them Seiko anymore, as GS is now a brand on its own) introduced in back in 2016. This was certainly one of the rare times a watch without classical balance was featured on Monochrome, but this was properly deserved. Well, today we do it again, as there’s a new kid in town: the Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8-Day Now in Rose Gold & Sparkling Black Dial (Ref. SBGD202).

Classic with a Twist – The new 39mm Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Off-Centered

A classic with a twist… Much to our satisfaction, we have been seeing smaller watches re-emerge over the past few years. Case in point, the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde off-centered is now available with a 39mm case, in place of the usual 43mm versions, maybe too large to be called dress watches. Things change. We go hands on with this chic timepiece.

Hands-On – Elegant and Balanced, The Drive De Cartier Moon Phases

At the SIHH 2017, Cartier introduced a watch that I considered a hit (this remains of course very personal), the Drive de Cartier Extra Flat. Slim, refined, elegant, perfectly proportioned, featuring a nice engine… Well, in fact, this watch might be problematic for some. Obvious reason: its price, as only available in gold. Then, it might be too clean, too simple for some. In addition to the existing models (time-and-date and dual-time), Cartier introduced a Moon Phases version of the Drive, with quite some arguments to fell satisfied.

Hand-on with Carl F. Bucherer Manero Peripheral – Photos, Specs and Price

Today we go hands-on with the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Peripheral, which is the brand’s most basic version with their highly interesting in-house movement. It’s more than just a pretty face, as it features an unusual peripheral rotor that allows for unrestricted views of the CFB 1000 movement inside. After our review of the Manero Power Reserve, and that time we explained the peripheral rotor in depth, we now take a look at the Manero Peripheral.

Rebirth: Carl Suchy & Söhne Walz 1 – Hands-on with Photos, Specs and Price

It’s an age-old recipe; a name from the past to cement your future. A watch company goes bust due to some crisis, lays dormant for a good number of years, and is eventually resurrected with passion and a large sum of money. A lot never make it past the drawing board, some actually make it to prototyping and a few eventually produce actual watches. We’ve seen this with high-end brands like Ferdinand Berthoud or Czapek, or in lower price-bracket with Lebois & Co for instance, all being built on foundations of yesteryear. The latest resurrection to join the party is Carl Suchy & Söhne and we’re introducing you to the Carl Suchy & Söhne Waltz N°1.

Introducing – Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Small Model 36mm – Restrained Elegance for Him and Her

Gentlemen, one of the main issues we, watch aficionados, face nowadays might be that we see some of our watches more often strapped on lovely feminine wrists rather than on ours. And despite the fact that we intrinsically love it (but we can’t admit it), there has to be a solution to please both our beloved ladies and us. What if finally, we have found a watch that we, men, could steal from our wives? Or simply a watch made for both genders and that brings back this simple pleasure of having a small (relatively speaking) watch on the wrist. The new Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Small Model 36mm might be this solution.

Introducing – Laurent Ferrier Galet Regulateur (Specs & Price)

Right after the SIHH 2017, I spent a few hours to write what I can call a “love letter“. This letter was addressed to a man (and his team of course) for whom I have a lot of respect and affection, Mister Laurent Ferrier. The subject of this letter was his latest creation, the Galet Micro-Rotor “Montre Ecole”. Yes, no need to say more, I loved this watch. Based on the same superb case and movement, the brand now introduces a new complication, classical and historically relevant (of course) with the Laurent Ferrier Galet Regulateur.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Updates The Master Ultra-Thin Collection With Colored Dials

At SIHH 2017, some new Master Ultra-Thin watches went almost unnoticed, as the cool Master Control with Sector Dial somehow stole the show. However, the old Maison was not short of watches to feed the 2017 catalogue. Today, we take a look at 4 unapologetically elegant new watches with classic style and functions, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Small Second, the Master Ultra-Thin MoonPhase, the Master Ultra-Thin Power Reserve and the Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar, all of them now paired with grey or blue dial.
