Pre-Baselworld 2018 – The Glashütte Original Senator Cosmopolite now in Steel

In 2015, Glashütte Original introduced the Senator Cosmopolite, a complex yet visually clean watch (at least once you know all the functions that are packed into this piece). Based on the most advanced watch the brand ever created – the 2012 Grande Cosmopolite Tourbillon – it is capable to indicate the time in no less than 36 time-zones. First presented in gold (white or red), the Glashütte Original Senator Cosmopolite will be officially launched at Baselworld 2018 in a more affordable and less formal version in stainless steel and with Arabic numerals.

Just over six months ago now, we introduced you to an interesting new brand and its striking first timepiece: the MING 17.01. These watches were, to put it mildly, very well received. In fact, both versions of the 17.01 sold out almost immediately. This initial collection was followed a few months later by the MING 19.01, equipped with an exclusive movement from Schwarz Etienne. Hands-On – Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Hémisphère Rétrograde

The Toric was the first watch ever designed by Michel Parmigiani back in 1996. The collection was reintroduced at SIHH 2017 with the elegant Toric Chronomètre, a subdued, less complex take on the original case design. It is now presented in a stylish travel watch version with the Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde. Introducing – Oris GMT Rega Limited Edition

Last year, Oris introduced their first watch made in partnership with Rega, a private, non-profit air rescue service that provides emergency medical assistance in Switzerland. Based on the powerful and unique Big Crown ProPilot Altimeter, we even tested it right where it should be, in the Swiss mountains. Today, Oris presents the Oris GMT Rega Limited Edition, the second watch made in support of the partnership with Rega – and still a powerful, tool-ish purpose built-watch.

Hands-On – Porsche Design Monobloc Actuator 24H-Chronotimer LE, Racing Wristwatch Technology

Porsche Design is on a roll these last few years, and we fully support that. Well built, thoughtful designs along the quintessential German design aesthetics; properly crafted and free from unnecessary frills whilst remaining very ergonomic and superbly user friendly. The new Porsche Design Monobloc Actuator 24H-Chronotimer is no exception, as we told you before, and the extra special Limited Edition in black emphasizes that. Oh, and there is the historical relevance of a blackened Porsche Design watch.

Pre-SIHH 2018 – Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time With New In-House Movement

This week, Vacheron Constantin is previewing one of the new additions it will be making to its popular Overseas collection in 2018, aptly named the Overseas Dual Time. Due to be officially launched at SIHH 2018, the Manufacture took the opportunity to get its new model in front of serious collectors from the Middle East (and further abroad) who attend the Dubai Watch Week event each year. Inside is the new Vacheron Constantin Caliber 5110 DT, which allows for the simultaneous reading of two time-zones, hence the name of the watch. A standard complication no doubt, but one that has been noticeably missing from the collection of this luxury sports watch.
