Hands-On – Arnold & Son DBG Skeleton Dual-Time – With (Almost) Two Movements in One Watch

Symmetry in the construction of the displays and movements have always been a huge part of Arnold & Son’s DNA. In their case, the design doesn’t drive the development of the movement, but the opposite. See for instance the Constant Force Tourbillon, the Nebula or the Time Pyramid and you’ll see how symmetry influenced the brand. Playing on this same concept, the brand pushed the idea even further, by having a watch with two entirely separate time displays, driven by an incredible twin-movement. And in order to enjoy this mechanical feast, a new version, the Arnold & Son DBG Skeleton, exposes all its entrails in a demonstrative but elegant way.

Baselworld 2017 – Manufacture Royale ADN, Bold & Architectural

Manufacture Royale goes back to its roots to reinvent itself whilst presenting its 9th caliber. Regulated by a flying tourbillon, the MR09 caliber lets users track two time-zones at once, right down to the minute – the local time uses an original jump-hour display. Inspired by the Androgyne, the first model unveiled following the revival of the brand a few years ago, the ‘ADN’ (the French Acronym for DNA) case houses a spectacular skeleton movement, allowing for a detailed view of its inner workings and three-dimensional architecture.

Introducing – Ulysse Nardin Classic Sonata, The Alarm Watch with Cathedral Gong, Now with a Subtler Design

While not new, the concept of the Ulysse Nardin Classic Sonata still is captivating, as being one of the few alarm watches on the market, and one with quite some great features. Indeed, the pièce de resistance is the chiming system of this watch, as you’ll get your alarm chiming with a cathedral gong (something usually reserved to super-high-end minute repeaters). Previously introduced in a very “Marine” style, the Ulysse Nardin Classic Sonata is now unveiled in a much subtler version for 2017, and with a steel option.

Vicenterra GMT-3 Tome 5 Titanium Black Máté Watch Review

There is something tirelessly cool about watches with globes on them. There are, however, far fewer watches out there with three-dimensional globes actually in them, rather than represented on the dial, and the Vicenterra GMT-3 Tome 5 Titanium Black Máté is one of the handful.

Germain Baillot Concept Watch

The Germain Baillot Concept Watch is a radical, neo-futurist concept watch straight outta the jet age, equipped with two complications: a 24-hour GMT world timer and a vertical tourbillon. While still purely hypothetical, as a concept, we think it is worthy of attention and discussion.

Xēzo Air Commando D-45R & D-45S Watch Review

Since 2001, Xēzo has been producing limited-run timepieces that offer a whole lot of bang for the buck. I recently had a chance to spend some time with two of their pieces, the Xēzo Air Commando D-45R and the Air Commando D-45S.

TUDOR BASELWORLD 2017 – Predictions For The Novelties That Tudor Could Launch In 2017

It has become a recurring game for us here, at Monochrome-Watches. In the same way we just shared with you our predictions for sister-brand Rolex, we’ll show what we expect to see from Tudor at Baselworld 2017. Just like previous years (see here and here), this article is pure imagination-based and is nothing official. Yet, the watches we’ll show you don’t come out of the blue and are well-thought propositions. After a year 2016 mainly based on the Heritage Black Bay (Black Bay Bronze, Black Bay 36, Black Bay Dark, Black Bay Manufacture), we think it’s time for Tudor to move in other directions, to look at other collections and to explore new territories. Thus, as you’ll see, here is our dark and travel-oriented Tudor Baselworld 2017 collection.
