Jacob & Co. Opera Godfather Edition – Mechanically (and musically) Intriguing

Music exists in time. Uniting two traditional Swiss crafts, the Jacob & Co. Opera is a highly complicated timepiece and a wearable music box at the same time… Moreover, it is a spectacular show on the wrist that is pretty hard to depict. The ballet of its triple-axis tourbillon and its musical mechanism in action is surprising and captivating. Technically, the combination of these two rare complications is impressive. There is indeed a lot happening and if a picture is worth a 1,000 words, a video is worth a million… It is even a must to present a timepiece that defies traditional labels by playing the Godfather theme and by featuring a miniature Don Vito Corleone in its center!

Review – The A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual Pour le Merite (Spoiler Alert: It is MEGA)

No need to beat around the bush… Some subjects don’t really need to be debated. The new A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual Pour le Merite is a superlative watch, a proper masterpiece, mixing all the technical marvels of one of the best manufactures in the world (because for once, it’s outside Switzerland), with a strong respect to traditions and a devotion to what is (to me, at least) the most important in a watch; precision. Yes, you could say that the Tourbograph Perpetual Pour le Merite blows things out of proportion but still, whatever the critics will be, we all must admit that this watch is, in every aspect, mega.

Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual Pour le Merite to sound the start of the show. In short, this watch is simply mega. If you are into watches for already a few years, you might be aware of the 2005 A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Pour le Merite, an impressive watch combining a tourbillon, a split-seconds chronograph and a fusée-and-chain transmission. Add to that a perpetual calendar and you’ll have one of the most impressive watches ever created by the Saxon Manufacture (after the Grande Complication), which is the brand’s highlight for his year.
