Pure… In Green – Introducing the H. Moser & Cie. Venturer Small Seconds XL Purity Cosmic Green

As of now, you should know that H. Moser & Cie hallmark is all about purity – and a certain rebellious spirit about a touchy subject, Swiss Made… Purity goes all along Moser watches, from the uncluttered dials, to the lack of logos (that is simply unique in the industry) or the case. Yet, purity doesn’t mean plain, boring or void of interest. The brand achieved to be bold, with no artifices. How? With a distinctive shape, distinctive dials and, more surprising, bright colors. Following the spirit of the Funky Blue dial, which has become the brand’s signature, H. Moser & Cie. now introduces the Venturer Small Seconds XL, their largest watch, now in a “Purity” version and with an audacious Cosmic Green dial.

Review: H. Moser & Cie. Swiss Mad Watch

Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that the most talked about watch from SIHH 2017 is a watch made of Swiss cheese. Well truth is indeed stranger than fiction, all thanks to Moser. The Schaffhausen-based manufacturer has indeed outdone itself this time with the one-of-a-kind (literally, it is a piece unique) Swiss Mad Watch.…

More Curves, More Purity, 100% Swiss – Introducing the H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Purity

Undoubtedly the most emblematic watch of the H. Moser & Cie collection, the Endeavour Perpetual Calendar is a piece that we covered (and praised, and reviewed) several times here, on Monochrome-Watches (here or here for instance). it has even been the play field for a concept, in what is to date the cleanest QP you can imagine (too clean? Maybe, but the point is not here). With their now usual “no logo” minimalistic dial approach and the new #MakeSwissMadeGreatAgain approach, H. Moser & Cie revamp their QP, with the Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Purity. New case, new dial, same super-clever movement… and now 100% Swiss Made.

Brice Goulard’s Top 10 of the SIHH 2017

First one to pull the trigger was Xavier, with his Top 10 watches of the SIHH 2017. It was not fair to leave that task to him only, so I had to do the job too. Still, picking up my 10 favorite pieces of the Geneva-based fair was not easy. Not that there was not enough material this year – we’ve seen many interesting propositions, both dream-watches or more commercial offers – but it’s always difficult to set barriers. Whatever, here they are, my 10 favorite watches of the SIHH 2017 (plus a few special mentions, some watches or policies dear to my heat…)

Xavier Markl’s Top 10 of the SIHH 2017

The SIHH 2017 was my 19th attendance to the Geneva-based fair. What a pleasure to tour the inescapable Geneva Haute Horlogerie rendez-vous, which has been great vintage indeed! Here’s my top ten favorite watches, after over 2,000 pictures shot. These are presented without specific order, focusing on gents watches (no mention therefore of the magnificent jeweled watches from Cartier, Piaget or Van Cleef and Arpels). A tough choice but as we had to pick ten, here we go with my personal highlights…

H. Moser & Cie. Launches The Swiss Mad Watch, The Most Swiss Watch Ever (With A Swiss Cheese Case… Yes!) & The Venturer Swiss Mad

Please read Swiss Mad, not Swiss Made. Recently, the high-end, yet irreverent, watchmaker H. Moser & Cie. reported to us their wish to get rid of the “Swiss Made” inscription on the dial of their watches, as well as the upcoming launch of the most Swiss Watch ever created. Yes, as few might know, “Swiss Made” doesn’t mean 100% made in Switzerland. And this is something Edouard Meylan (the brand’s CEO) sees as a betrayal towards customers. Well, now that we know the announcement, it is time to see what all that noise really means. The answer sits in two watches, including a concept piece, the Swiss Mad Watch, a 100% Swiss Made watch, from Swiss Materials (including a Swiss cheese case and a Swiss cow strap…) and the Venturer Swiss Mad, a more traditional commercial piece, yet 100% Swiss Made too. And if you want to know, yes it is bold, yes it irreverent, yes it is a gimmick, yes it is kind of stupid, but, (oh yes!) it is a superb move to shake up that sleeping industry.

H. Moser & Cie Removes “Swiss Made” From Its Watches And Teases Us With The Upcoming Most Swiss Watch Ever Created

As of the 1st of January 2017, the “Swiss Made” label will change its rules, being reinforced and aiming in providing a more Swiss production to the end consumer. In other words, a “Swiss Made” watch will have to comprise 60% of components of Swiss origin in order to be considered eligible (as a reminder, the previous rule was that at least 50% of a watch’s value has to be realized in Switzerland). A reinforcement it is, however, not enough for a manufacture named H. Moser & Cie. For various reasons that we’ll explain, the brand doesn’t agree anymore with these rules, deciding to forgo the Swiss Made label and jointly, unveiling the most Swiss watch ever created; produced in Switzerland, by Swiss watchmakers and using materials of Swiss origin.
