Buying Guide – 6 Great Annual Calendar Watches From Establishes Manufactures

Calendar watches come in a wide variety. Most of them are based on 31-day cycles and require a regular adjustment (5 times a year) to ensure that the correct date is displayed. An annual calendar automatically adjusts the indicated date, mechanically configured to display the different lengths of the months, and they require to be corrected manually only once a year (in the worst case depending on its mechanism). Typically more accessible than the perpetual calendar (which also takes into account leap years) and infinitely more useful than a standard calendar, the annual calendar offers a lot of bang for the buck.

Pre-SIHH 2018 – Hands-On with the IWC Tribute to Pallweber Edition 150 years, With Digital Hours and Minute Display

Today is the opening of the Pre-SIHH season for IWC, meaning that some novelties are to be expected. The theme for this year will be the 150th anniversary of the Schaffhausen-based brand. A very special year indeed, which will be celebrated with no less than 27 limited-edition models. Among the 4 watches to be unveiled prior to the Geneva show is a completely original watch, a vintage reedition, not of a famed 1960s piece but based on one of the most iconic pocket-watches ever manufactured by IWC, the Pallweber. Here is the IWC Tribute to Pallweber Edition 150 years, With Digital Hours and Minute display.

Pre-SIHH 2018 – Hands-On with the IWC Portugieser Constant Force Tourbillon Edition 150 years

IWC is turning 150 next year. To mark the occasion, the Schaffhausen-based manufacturer is set to unveil a special Jubilee collection at SIHH, comprising 27 limited–edition watches from different collections. Among these and a bit prior to the Geneva-Watch-Fair, the new Portugieser Constant-Force Tourbillon Edition “150 Years” is the first IWC to combine a constant-force tourbillon with a single moon phase display that only needs to be adjusted by 1 day after 577.5 years. Here’s an early hands-on look at this beauty housing an impressive and highly-complex movement.

Introducing – IWC Ingenieur Chronograph “Tribute to Nico Rosberg” to honour the 2016 F1 World Champion

Last weekend, just before the start of the final race of this year’s F1 season, IWC introduced a special edition Ingenieur Chronograph, to honour last year’s World Champion Nico Rosberg. While the available 23 pieces were probably sold out instantly, we love to share this with you for two reasons. First, this is the best looking new Ingenieur Chronograph version, and secondly, we included the video of Nico Rosberg picking up his own watch and answering questions about this limited edition.

Hands-On – The IWC Pilot’s Watch MARK XVIII Edition “Antoine De Saint Exupéry”

Today, we are going hands on with a special edition of possibly one of the most legendary pilot’s watches of all time, or at the very least, one of the latest versions of it. Officially unveiled a few months ago, the IWC Pilot’s Watch MARK XVIII Edition “Antoine De Saint Exupéry” marks another addition to a long-line of military inspired models. It’s not a new watch as such, but rather part of an update to the existing Antoine De Saint Exupéry line, which includes two other models (a chronograph and a 36mm automatic ladies model). Like the standard Mark XVIII, it’s nicely sized at 40mm and features a third-party movement to keep the price down. Read on for the details and of course, some nice live photos.

Introducing – IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition “Tribute to Mark XI”

IWC is on the vintage side since quite some months. After the introduction of an entirely new Ingenieur collection, based on the original 1960s style, or a 2017 Da Vinci Collection that is based on a 1980s design, the Schaffhausen-based brand is now operating on its praised Pilot’s Watch, with a new edition that is (sorry for such enthusiasm) simply a killer! Reasonably sized, perfectly legit, historically relevant, toolish… The kind of IWC we love. Here is the IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition “Tribute to Mark XI”, based on the 1948 RAF navigators watches.

Hands-On – The IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Moon Phase, A Classic Modernized

Over the last few years, IWC has been steadily re-positioning its various collections in a decidedly upward direction. Most notably, the Portugieser has moved up a few rungs on the price list, whilst the Portifino now occupies the space this move created. Although at first this may not seem like great news for your wallet, it has resulted in the introduction of several interesting and attractive pieces into the Portofino range, including this gorgeous IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Moon Phase. Today, we go hands on to find out what all the fuss is about.

Hands-On – The Redesigned Edition of the IWC Portugieser Chronograph Classic

First introduced in the middle of the year 2013, apart from the SIHH and in a rather quiet way, the IWC Portugieser Chronograph Classic was a more technical (new movement) but highly faithful (a design that is deeply based on the Portugieser’s DNA) take on a watch that has been a cornerstone in the collection. For 2017, this now-classic model receives a discreet facelift, focused on the essential. Here is the IWC Portugieser Chronograph Classic 2017 Edition IWC3903.
