Hands-on – The Updated Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon

When you think of an elegant and discreet watch, with a certain old-school dandy feel, the Master collection by Jaeger-LeCoultre won’t disappoint. We’ve seen multiple models in the past – QP, Moon, or even the cool Sector Dial editions – and all share that underrated, clean, thin, non-showy elegance that makes them timeless. As part of the SIHH 2019 (yet discreetly unveiled) was an updated version of the flagship model, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon. Sober yet complex!

Hands-on – Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute to Rembrandt

When introduced back in 1931, the Reverso was designed with one purpose in mind: protecting its dial. It was a watch made for polo players, who needed to have the glass of their watches (at that time still mineral glass) hidden – hence the idea of a reversible case. Since then, such needs aren’t relevant […]

Women’s Watch Wednesday – Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Night & Day Jewellery Watch

Earlier this year at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), Jaeger-LeCoultre pulled out all the stops for its women’s watches. The brand’s much-coveted Rendez-Vous collection (released seven years ago in 2012 and created just for women) was top on the list when it came to new editions. Of particular note were the high jewellery pieces that flaunted new dials, new moon phase disks and beautiful prong settings.

Hands-on – Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph WT

A welcome addition to the collection, the Polaris is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s vision of an elegant-sport watch. The collection was launched at SIHH 2018, just 50 years after the original and iconic Polaris Memovox – read our introductory article here. Among a full range of timepieces, the Chronograph WT is the largest and the most technical version, offering travellers the practical world-time function. Today we take a close look at this version that combines a column-wheel chronograph and a traveller’s complication.

Hands-on – Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Enamel

Since its facelift in 2013, the Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual has appeared in various guises, including the sleek black dial version we saw in 2016. However, I think there is unanimous agreement that the 2019 white gold version with its blue enamel guilloché dial wins hands down. Released as part of a limited edition trilogy, including the Master Ultra-Thin Moon Enamel and Tourbillon models, the new members of the Master-Thin Enamel family stole the show. The watch we will be looking at today comes with a revised movement and display and indicates the phases of the Moon in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

Recap – MONOCHROME’s Top 10 Watches of the SIHH 2019

Now that the SIHH 2019 is over, it is time to sit down and to take a closer look at the dozens of watches that have been introduced. Overall, it has been a good year in terms of novelties – probably not the best edition ever, but still, there were some pretty interesting things to see, especially in the field of complication. This also means that the “entry-level” or “affordable” categories have been slightly forgotten by some brands. After all, SIHH means Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. Thus, you won’t be surprised to see that our selection of the 10 best watches of the show is quite “high-end” focused.

Interview – Catherine Rénier, CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre, during SIHH 2019

Jaeger-LeCoultre or “La Grande Maison” has, just like some of its sister brands inside the Richemont Group, seen some changes at its head recently. A new CEO, Catherine Rénier (previously at Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels), often means a new strategy. Rather discreet until now, we thought the SIHH 2019 was the right time to […]
