Review – The Battle of High-End Annual Calendars Part 2 – Laurent Ferrier Annual Calendar School Piece

The Galet Annual Calendar School Piece marks an important milestone in Laurent Ferrier’s career. As the fifth in-house calibre from the independent master watchmaker, this Galet model is also his first annual calendar complication. With its smooth, sensual surfaces and effortless handling, this annual calendar stole our hearts as one of the best watches presented […]

Introducing – Laurent Ferrier Enters the “Luxury Sports Watch” Category with the Tourbillon Grand Sport (Live Pics)

There’s no denying that the “luxury sports watch” segment is, by quite a margin, currently producing some of the hottest watches on the market. The demand for such pieces simply surpasses production. For this reason, we see more and more brands entering this market (and there will be more), some foreseeable, some less – Maurice […]

Hands-on – Laurent Ferrier Bridge One – In the Mood for Retro

In a radical departure from the smooth, pebble-shaped cases we associate with Laurent Ferrier, the Bridge One embraces a new geometry marked by flowing rectangular lines with rounded edges and a strong Art Deco vibe. The movement, shaped to match the case, is also new and fitted with a traditional Swiss lever escapement as opposed to the natural escapement featured on most of LF watches. Unveiled during the SIHH 2019, we were able to spend some time with the novel Bridge One.

Recap – MONOCHROME’s Top 10 Watches of the SIHH 2019

Now that the SIHH 2019 is over, it is time to sit down and to take a closer look at the dozens of watches that have been introduced. Overall, it has been a good year in terms of novelties – probably not the best edition ever, but still, there were some pretty interesting things to see, especially in the field of complication. This also means that the “entry-level” or “affordable” categories have been slightly forgotten by some brands. After all, SIHH means Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. Thus, you won’t be surprised to see that our selection of the 10 best watches of the show is quite “high-end” focused.

SIHH 2019 – Laurent Ferrier Bridge One – New Rectangular Case and Shaped Movement

For now close to a decade, Laurent Ferrier has been known for the beauty of its movements but also for the purity and elegance of its cases – the so-called signature Galet (pebble) case, with sleek, smooth lines. This creative classism has defined the brand and all of its models. For the SIHH 2019, things are about to (slightly) change, with a brand new watch – not only mechanically but also design-wise. New rectangular case and shaped movement, still pure as a Ferrier watch should be, meet the Laurent Ferrier Bridge One.

Pre-SIHH 2019 – Laurent Ferrier Galet Annual Calendar School Piece Opaline Black & White

At the SIHH last year, Laurent Ferrier introduced a superb watch, both visually and technically: the Galet Annual Calendar School Piece. Not only it brought a brand-new movement, hand-wound and with a clever annual calendar display but the design, totally in line with our perception of Ferrier, was just beautiful. And there was that pale yellow gold case too… One of favourite “indie” watches of 2018. As part of the Pre-SIHH 2019 novelties, the Geneva-based brand is launching new versions of this watch, the Laurent Ferrier Galet Annual Calendar School Piece Opaline Black & White, with new dial colours and finishes.
