Review – The Classic Chronoswiss Regulator Manufacture

If a regulator wristwatch comes up in conversation, odds are that Chronoswiss is a part of it. The brand was first to produce a regulator wristwatch in series with the Régulateur, a simple and elegant piece that led to the company’s signature style. Rare examples of regulator wristwatches existed prior to this, but none were […]

Hands-on – Grand Seiko Heritage “Autumn” Hi-Beat Limited Edition SBGH269

I don’t know if you agree, but many people regard Grand Seiko as a very conservative, almost too technical brand. But of all the players that compete in that price segment (watches between EUR 4,000 and EUR 12,000) the only one that dares to do something truly different with its dials is precisely Grand Seiko. […]

Giorgia Mondani was a professional tennis player in her teens, becoming one of the best 400 players in the world by age 18. In-Depth – Carl F. Bucherer, a Peripheral Vision

Some technical solutions “belong” to certain brands. Although Carl F. Bucherer is neither the creator nor the only brand to use peripheral winding movements, the Lucerne-based manufacturer can be said to have made the peripheral rotor a trademark technical solution. Better yet, Carl F. Bucherer presented its Double Peripheral Tourbillon in 2018, evidencing its desire […]

Women’s Watch Wednesday – Glashütte Original PanoMatic Luna

Moon-phase watches are the most popular and poetic of astronomical complications. At Glashütte Original, colour and texture are often used to exalt the beauty of our celestial neighbour. This is certainly […]

Review – A Personal Take on the Bell & Ross BR05

The Luxury Sports Watch… The hottest of the categories these days, the one everybody talks about, the one everybody wants and the one that creates most premium over retail (sadly…) So, hardly surprising, there have been new brands appearing on the market, some high-end, some on the other side of the spectrum, some expected, some […]

Hands-on – Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar Steel with Rose “Salmon” Opaline Dial

A classic among the classics, the Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar is the essence of the German manufacturer, with its off-centred display, its beautifully executed movement and very Teutonic design, in cold and technical colours. Certainly, we’ve seen some more colourful versions, in gold with a blue dial for instance – but still rather classic. So what […]

Introducing – IWC “Lewis Hamilton” Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar

Last year, I had the chance to interview F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton, just before the French Grand-Prix. Part of the discussion was, of course, his impressive racing results but also something more in line with our usual topics; watches. I asked him what if he had the opportunity to design his own IWC watch. He answered “red gold is my favourite (…) I love the Big Pilot’s watch, I love heavier watches (…) Most likely it would be a perpetual calendar (…) A watch as mechanical as possible.” Well, it seems that his idea came to life, with the new IWC “Lewis Hamilton” Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar.
