Hands-on – Blancpain Villeret Quantieme Perpetuel 6656 – A Classic among Classics, Modernised

A classic among classics, the Le Brassus-based manufacture revisits its perpetual calendar complication with moon phases in 2018, in a larger 40mm case size and a choice of two metals: 18k red gold and stainless steel. Review – H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept VantaBlack – The Black-Out Effect

The Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept consolidates superlatives as one of the most precise, one of the most spartan, and certainly the darkest moon phase watch on the market today. Presented in two versions – one in red gold with a signature Moser fumé dial and another in steel with a pitch-black dial – the steel model is the talking piece. With a dial made from Vantablack – the darkest, blackest synthetic substance on our planet – a dramatic black hole canvas serves as a stage for the Moon to perform its orbit. Alluring and mysterious, Vantablack brings the alien sensation of a black hole one step closer to earthlings.

Independent Watchmaking – Sarpaneva K3 Northern Stars Guilloché

Let’s face the reality. For the last few months, we’ve neglected the independent watchmakers… This was part of the DNA of MONOCHROME since its inception, so as a mea-culpa before the summer break, the redaction has decided to bring back some of these cool, unique and creative watches back under the spotlights. My choice of the day: a truly fascinating piece, the Sarpaneva K3 Northern Stars here presented with a completely unusual old-rose guilloché dial.
