SIHH 2017 – Introducing the Christophe Claret Maestro (updated with preview photos)

As the SIHH is getting closer to us, some new watches are being introduced, but not only from the usual suspects (Richemont Group brands) but also from independent watchmakers that are exposing at the ‘Carré des Horlogers’. Christophe Claret is one of them, and as you might know, the brand is not shy in creating impressive piece of haute horlogerie. For their second participation to the SIHH, they come with a watch that could almost be seen as their ‘entry-level’, yet still fitted with the great expertise of this manufacture: the Christophe Claret Maestro.

Introducing – TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 Full Black Matt Ceramic

Most of watch lovers might know that in a few days will be the first major watch event of the year, the SIHH 2017. On the sidelines of this massive event, some other brands, traditionally exposing at the Baselworld, are also benefiting from the traffic of journalists, collectors and retailers that the SIHH can drain. One of them is not what you can call small: TAG Heuer. In order to open the festivities of the Geneva Watch Fair 2017 (Hublot and Zenith, both part of the same group, will also expose there), here is the first novelty introduced, the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 Full Black Matt Ceramic.

Introducing – Seiko Prospex Turtle SRPB11 and Samurai SRPB09 Blue Lagoon Limited Editions

A few days ago, our boss Frank spotted something rather surprising on Instagram, some new, never-seen-before editions of super-cool Seiko Prospex watches, published here by Seiko Watch USA. Well, for most brands, new limited editions won’t be a super-big piece of news. But here, we’re talking about Seiko Prospex and some new editions, especially because it includes the “Turtle” and the “Samurai”, are something that will definitely create some buzz inside collectors’ circles. So, as a preview of what will be showed at Baselworld 2017, here are the Seiko Prospex Turtle SRPB11 and Samurai SRPB09 Blue Lagoon Limited Editions.

Hands-On – Oris Divers Sixty-Five Silver Dial (And Why A Bright Dial Diver Can Also Work)

In a recent piece of news, Oris announced a new iteration for the 42mm Divers Sixty-Five. While this model already exists in blue or green, it now comes with a rather unexpected dial, which even if strongly playing on the usual vintage theme of the collection (and maybe even more now) is featuring a silver color, something rather unusual for a dive watch. Well, this Oris Divers Sixty-Five Silver Dial was clearly requiring to be seen in the metal (no press photo can give credits to a watch), something we did during the brand’s pre-Baselworld Preview where we already saw the Oris Altimeter Rega Limited Edition. And believe us, it was necessary.

Pre-SIHH 2017 – IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph (and a bit about the future collection to come)

It has become sort of a tradition for IWC now. Each year, when the SIHH is about to open, we all know that the Schaffhausen-based manufacture will come with an entirely revisited collection. After the 2016 Pilot’s Watches, the 2015 Portugeisers, the 2014 Aquatimers and the 2013 Ingenieurs, it’s now time to revamp the other collection, a range of watches that might not be the most popular among a large audience: the Da Vinci. An icon of the 1980s, this watch has since seen many variations, being even dressed in tonneau-shaped case. For the SIHH 2017, IWC goes back to the roots of the collection and, to open the festivities, introduces the flagship version: the IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph.

Review – Creux Automatiq, An Accessible Option For A Stylish Luxury Sports Watch

One of the major trends for 2016 has been the arrival of new-comers on the market – new brands, created from scratch, mainly driven by crowd-funding processes (see all these affordable “Kickstarter” campaigns, with some of them showing highly interesting projects). This trend will most definitely continue in 2017, believe us. However, most of these new projects are based on affordable, no-Swiss-Made watches – something that we, here, not necessarily dislike but a bit of good-old Helvetic quality is always welcomed. Playing on the Luxury Sports Watch concept, here is the Creux Automatiq Watch, a Swiss-Made, qualitative, yet affordable option to certain well-known luxury watches you might have in mind.

Death to Gravity with the Corum Bubble 47 Flying Tourbillon Skull

At Baselworld 2015, an icon was back; the Corum Bubble – a watch that first came on the market in 2000, a watch with a unique bulb shape, large and thick, full of distortions but a watch that served a major role in the brand’s recent history. It seems that what is now the main cool factor of these older versions, meaning the countless and all unexpected limited to unique editions, is back – see this version for illustration. Today, the Corum Bubble send a fatal message to gravity, with the unique piece Flying Tourbillon Skull.
