Introducing – Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph (Hands-On)

Last year, at Baselworld 2018, Omega introduced the new “James Bond Watch”, a.k.a the Seamaster Diver 300M. Not shy of being one of the best luxury dive watches available on the market (really, it is), it came with updated case, new ceramic laser-engraved dial, new ceramic and enamel bezel and mainly, a Master Chronometer in-house movement. It is now time for the first evolution in the collection, with the introduction of the new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph – in 3 different versions, including steel, bi-co and Sedna gold.

The Stuff of Legend – Celebrating 50 Years of Moonwatch’s Lunar Landing

No watch can compete with the story of the Moonwatch. Period. And you can be sure that Omega will be pulling out all the stops and rolling out the red carpet to celebrate the golden anniversary of the Speedmaster’s Moon landing. On 16th July 1969, the Apollo 11 lifted off from the Kennedy Space Centre […]

Is this double-denim Omega Seamaster Railmaster fashion-forward or a faux pas?

Editor’s note: We could always tell by the way the Omega Seamaster Railmaster ‘Blue Denim’ used its walk that it walked a fine line between a strong look and something else. The winds of sartorial change have changed direction since it was first released in 2018, with Levi’s recently re-releasing their ‘Engineered’ range, 20 years after it was first introduced in the ’90s. Where does that leave the Omega Seamaster Railmaster ‘Blue Denim’? Well, ‘double denim’ was once a fashion crime. It was a simple dressing rule that would help people avoid ridicule in public. For example, should I wear this denim shirt with jeans? No mam, change it out for cotton. Should I wear this denim jacket with a denim shirt? Not unless you are a real-life cowboy, sir. But fashion is mercurial, and what was once a laughing stock can become legendary in the simple changing of a season. Where does it stand, now? Is it the long-lost link between workwear and watchmaking?     The story in a second: Workwear meets watchmaking in Omega’s latest colourful take on the Railmaster. One of last year’s most compelling releases from Omega was the revamped Railmaster. This new take on an old…

Hands-on – Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Ceramic and Titanium

The Seamaster Diver 300M is one of the most beloved watches of Omega fans, and one of the best-sellers of the company. Part of this success is due to the link with James Bond, to the point that despite the long “Omega Seamaster 300M Professional” name, the watch is very often simply referred to as “the James Bond watch”. After a tasteful facelift done last year on the time-and-date version, we have this year an additional model dressed in black ceramic and titanium – see here – that has more than just different materials to offer. Here’s our early hands-on with the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Ceramic and Titanium (ref. 210.92.44.20.01.001).

News – Celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the Omega name with Jubilee Watches – Special De Ville Trésor and Reborn Original Calibre 19-ligne

125 years ago, a Swiss watch manufacture started to use its commercial name and became one of the most iconic, most sought-after names in the industry. News – Omega Reintroduces the Iconic Column-Wheel Chronograph Calibre 321

What came a few minutes ago in our email boxes was clearly unexpected – but certainly the best piece of news Speedmaster fans could have dreamed of… as Omega is about the relaunch one of the most iconic chronograph movements ever, the movement that actually went to the Moon on the wrist of Aldrin and Armstrong, the movement that equipped the first generations of Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch until moving to the cam-operated Calibre 861. Yes, that’s right, Omega will restart the production of the Calibre 321 with column-wheel. And that is pretty cool (to say the least).

Buying Guide – The 10 Best Watches of 2018 from EUR 2,000 to 5,000

As the end of the year is fast approaching, it is time for us at MONOCHROME to take a look back at the main novelties of 2018 and to decide what were the best watches we’ve seen. As we did with our best watches below EUR 2,000, here’s our second buying guide, this time with the best watches of 2018 priced between EUR 2,000 and EUR 5,000. And this has been a tough selection, as this category is crucial for luxury brands – there’s a huge competition in this price range, as “accessible luxury” companies are fighting with entry-level models of more established names. But here is our top-10, just to give you an idea of what you could get with your hard-earned money this year.
