Introducing – Panerai Mare Nostrum 42mm PAM00716, Tribute to the 1993 Icon (and the History of the Mare Nostrum Collection)

Mare Nostrum, “Our Sea” in latin. This term also sounds like rarity and exclusive model in Panerai collectors’ minds. Indeed, back in the early days of the Florentine manufacture, a chronograph had been created, one that is so rare that it became a legend. Based on this idea and on the few documentation available at that time, Panerai made a first re-edition of the Mare Nostrum chronograph in 1993 (Ref. 5218-301), the date of the first collection of Panerai watches made for civilian use – a watch that became iconic. For 2017, this model comes back in a faithful (but again rare) tribute version, the Panerai Mare Nostrum 42mm PAM00716.

Review: Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo PAM 671

Panerai releases yet another Bronzo. The Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo – 47mm (PAM00671), also known as the blue dial Bronzo. The practice of milking the cash cow is not any foreign, but is very likely to come at the dismay of early brand supporters, especially owners of the green dial Bronzos. The watch is identical to its…

Haute Complication: Meet The Most Complicated Panerai Ever

Because the Radiomir 1940 Minute Repeater Carillon Tourbillon was announced three months after the SIHH of 2016, it was not officially part of the brand’s novelties of this year either. Fortunately, that didn’t stop Panerai for taking it to Geneva.

Panerai LAB-ID PAM700 – Pure Concentrate of Technology

A common cliché is to let engineering and innovation in the hands of Germans / Swiss and design to Italians. Justified or not, you probably heard that dozens of times. The collection was headlined by the experimental LAB-ID Luminor 1950 Carbotech, but primarily focused on new Luminor Submersible models, including the latest Submersible Bronzo. There were a handful of intriguing watches shown but […]

Review: Panerai LAB-ID Luminor 1950 Carbotech™ 3 Days PAM00700

One of the shockers which reverberated around the PalExpo halls this SIHH was the news that Panerai had introduced a watch which came with a 50 year warranty. Immediately, the antennae went up…publicity stunt. Especially when the 50 year warranty is coupled with a limited edition of 50 pieces and priced at € 50,000. But when we got…
