Baselworld 2018 – Tudor Black Bay GMT Pepsi Bezel 79830RB

Every year, the Tudor fans can’t wait to see what the brand will be releasing at Baselworld. The prediction game is over as Tudor has just unveiled its novelties for the 2018 edition of the watch and jewelry show. Among these, the new Tudor Black Bay GMT – with certainly a strong Rolex flavor – will certainly catch their attention as the iconic Tudor model is getting the addition of a new function, a GMT, indicated with an additional center hand on a 24h ‘Pepsi’ rotatable bezel.

Baselworld 2018 – Patek Philippe Nautilus Perpetual Calendar 5740G

As surprising as it gets, this is the first time the iconic Nautilus receives such a complicated movement. It already features annual calendars, several chronographs, a weird display on the 5712, but never Genta’s brainchild has been offered with one of Patek’s signature “grande complication” movements, the 240 Perpetual Calendar.

Hands-on – HYT H0 Gold Blue Fluid

Yellow gold watches divide opinion, but they are definitely back in style, in particular with more modernly designed and bold watches – which is quite an anachronism but can definitely bring an impressive result. A case in point, at SIHH 2018, HYT unveiled yellow gold versions of its H0, taking the model to new territories.

Introducing – DOXA SUB 300T Divingstar “Poseidon Edition”

Doxa is a watch brand that is mainly known to ‘those in the know’. Dive watch enthusiasts for instance. The brand is best known for the orange-dial dive watches they manufactured in the 1960’s and 1970’s when scuba diving became a popular sport. We’re talking about the iconic (and I’m not exaggerating) Doxa Sub 300T. In the past years, Doxa has recreated several highly collectable pieces from the 1960’s and 1970’s, like the Sub 300 50th Anniversary and the Sub 300 Black Lung. And now there’s another recreation of an old and highly collectable Doxa, again one that collectors will line up for. Here’s the Sub 300T Divingstar ‘Poseidon Edition’.

Introducing – Halda Race Pilot Group 63 Limited Edition – With Interchangeable Time Modules

AMG. Three simple letters to most, but three special ones to others. Letters that stand for Aufrecht-Melcher-Grossaspach, but that is not the most important bit. The important bit is that they have been producing high-performance Mercedes cars for 50 years and have been integrated into the Mercedes brand for years now and can rely on many fans and supporters, often gathered in clubs or groups. Celebrating all things AMG, the Dubai based Group 63 club have collaborated with Halda Watch Co. 1887 to create the Halda Race Pilot Group 63 Limited Edition.

Hands-on – The Doplr Pulse-Watch – A Unique Timepiece Created Specifically For Doctors, By Doctors

I think we can all agree that mechanical watches are a niche product. The new Doplr (pronounced “Doppler”) Pulse-Watch, however, takes things one (or several steps) further, with a mechanical watch created specifically for doctors. Its architects, who are also doctors, set themselves the goal of reimagining the pulsometer watch, created by Dr John Floyer in 1707, as a modern-day symbolic tool for measuring a person’s vital signs. Have they succeeded? Read on to learn more about the Doplr Pulse-Watch and make your own mind up.

Hands-on – Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Automatic – The Entry-Level to JLC’s new Sports Collection

Jaeger-LeCoultre takes a decidedly elegant plunge into the sports watch arena with the 2018 Polaris Collection. Reviewed here in detail, the five new members of the Polaris family are clearly descendants of the legendary Memovox Polaris model of 1968, revisited with just the right mix of vintage styling and contemporary tweaks. The Polaris Automatic is the simplest, smallest (41mm) and most contemporary looking model in the collection offering time only indications and an attractive entry-level price. For those of you who suffer from ‘datewindowphobia’, you will be pleased to discover that there is no such thing on this model allowing for an unobstructed, uninterrupted view of the dial. Smart enough to wear to the office yet rugged and sporty enough for 100-metre dives, the Polaris Automatic is as versatile as they come with a great history to boot.
