Emphasising key traits of Tutima’s historic pilot chronograph of 1941, the 43mm Grand Flieger Classic Chronograph is a solidly built, top quality companion for life’s everyday missions. The first flyback chronograph to be produced in Glashütte, Germany for the Luftwaffe, the distinctive credentials of the original Tutima Flieger Chronograph – like the coin-edged rotating bezel, the […]

Hands-on – Tutima M2 Coastline – A New Entry-Level Offer from the German Brand

Tutima, a Saxon manufacture based in Germany’s heart of watchmaking, Glashütte, is known for having a wide range of watches, from ultra-resistant military-inspired chronographs to complex, in-house produced elegant watches. After showing its watchmaking expertise with the Patria collection, the brand now moves to the other side of the range, with a new entry-level watch, the Tutima M2 Coastline. Simpler and more affordable but still showing military inspiration and built to resist to rough conditions.

Hands-on – Tutima Saxon One M now in an Elegant 40mm Case with a Midnight Grey Dial

Last year, we’ve been pleasantly surprised by a new watch, coming from Germany: the Saxon One by Tutima Glashütte. While the brand certainly is better known for its pilot chronographs or the high-end Patria collection, they’ve decided to change drastically their philosophy and to jump into the luxury sports watch concept, with an integrated case/bracelet construction. While the first versions were rather robust, Baselworld 2018 was the occasion to launch a more restrained version, which you’ll see here.

Hands-On – Tutima Saxon One Chronograph Royal Blue, The German Side of the Luxury Sports Watch

Tutima is a brand that, until recently, was mainly known for two things: being located in Germany’s temple of watches, a.k.a. Glashütte, and for being a provider of quite cool Flieger watches (WWII-inspired pilot chronographs). Yet, things are changing at Tutima, as we’ve seen with the superb Tempostopp and Patria, or with the recently introduced Saxon collection. This watch, the Tutima Saxon One Chronograph is now available with a blue dial, adding to the model’s overall contemporary look. We take a look at this sporty, yet elegant time-stopper.

Women’s Watch Wednesday – Reviewing the Tutima Saxon One Lady Automatic

A tribute to the Glasshütte tradition – Hands-on with the Tutima Patria and its beautiful in-house 617 caliber (specs and pricing)

Tutima has a long and prestigious history; the origins of the brand go as far back as the 1920s and 1930s in Glasshütte, when Tutima was the quality label of the UROFA-UFAG group. After the fall of the Berlin wall, several watchmakers looked at reviving the Saxon watchmaking tradition and the ‘made in Germany’ trademark, specifically in Glasshütte. Among them was Dieter Delecate, owner and CEO of Tutima, then headquarted in the north of Germany, near Bremen.

Germans Do It Better? 5 High-End Watches Made In Germany

German watches are distinctively unique. Their design is influenced by the Bauhaus philosophy with a minimalist approach and the idea that form follows function. Great emphasis is placed on simplicity, symmetry, clarity and practicality. The craftsmanship involved is superb, sharp and distinctive. It can easily stand toe-to-toe with the best of Swiss workmanship. The work on movements is often instantly recognizable, with characteristic features such as three-quarter plates, distincttive regulators, refined jeweling or the use of German silver.

Tutima Tempostopp – The 90th Anniversary Watch, With Superb In-House Hand-Wound Flyback Chronograph

For one reason or another, Tutima was not part of Monochrome’s team 150 meetings for Baselworld 2017. As we passed by one of its displays however, we were captivated by a particular watch and its movement: a bi-compax chronograph with a perfectly balanced dial and large, optimally spaced sub-counters. We wanted to know more and we were not disappointed, as the Tutima Tempostopp deserves interest… Especially when the back is revealed.
