MSTR Watches (pronounced “Meister”) is excited to release our first set of automatic watches. Since we started MSTR seven years ago, it has always been our dream to add automatic watches to our lineup. Thanks to the rise of crowdfunding, we are finally able to to fund the production and offer automatic watches at reasonable prices.
The Classic Sonata is a new highly complicated and limited-edition watch from Ulysse Nardin that combines the big date, alarm, and dual-time complications in a very bold-looking package.
German watch manufacturer Nomos has just released three models of its Neomatik line of watches with nachtblau (midnight blue) dials. The Tangente Neomatik Nachtblau, the Metro Neomatik Nachtblau, and the Minimatik Nachtblau will join the Tetra Neomatik Nachtblau in this midnight blue series of watches.
Some major watch brands seem to really think highly of ceramic as a case material and Blancpain is among them. Previously a closely guarded field of expertise of Rado and Chanel, ceramic technology and production techniques have only recently evolved to a point where more brands are entertaining the idea a ZrO2 case, since a lot more control of things like colors and hardness are becoming possible.
This is the new Kravitz Design X Les Artisans de Genève LK 01 watch, a reimagined and modified Rolex Daytona Ref. 116523, aka the two-tone gold and steel Daytona. As you can likely gather from the name, it’s designed by none other than musician and watch collector Lenny Kravitz. Yes, this is a modified Rolex with a celebrity association, and it is also one that looks very cool to me.
Generally speaking, when it comes to affordable in-house-manufactured movements, there’s a marked dearth of options between the most obvious players, like Seiko and Rolex – both of whom largely exist far apart on the budget spectrum. But for those in the know, Frederique Constant is an notable option.
Hailing from Singapore, Ventus Watches has just launched its third model on Kickstarter. This follows two successful campaigns, both Flieger watches made from either brass or carbon fiber. It started as an endeavour to offer classic designs with our own unique twists to them.
The Moon 1969 watch, a Bovarro Swiss-made automatic timepiece, is on Kickstarter to celebrate the first lunar landing. Designed to resemble the hatch and knob on the Apollo 11 spacecraft, bezels and all, this is a watch that is both unique and functional.
Vintage, throwback, heritage. These are all words that we have thrown at us regularly, and it can mean a variety of things. Most of it is simply marketing fluff, used to denote a particular look or design that may have no actual ties to history, and is simple make to look old (such as a forced patina on a case or vintage – aka browned – lume). Then again, you do have brands coming to the table that really do have some real history under their belts, and can reference something from their own past rather than making up stuff. Fortunately, this is the better example that we have in the just-announced Longines Heritage Military.
