Ulysse Nardin Goes Back To Astronomical Watches with the Complex Moonstruck Worldtimer

Ulysse Nardin’s history is deeply linked to Marine chronometers, yet there’s another speciality, rather forgotten, that the manufacture masters (and which is not that far from Marine watches), the astronomical watches. Some may recall the mid-1980s Trilogy – Astrolabium Galileo Galilei (introduced in 1985), Planetarium Copernicus (introduced in 1988) and Tellurium Johannes Kepler (introduced in 1992). This year, UN introduces yet another astronomical watch, the Moonstruck Worldtimer, combining the movements of the moon and sun in relation to the Earth, as well as a map of the tides and (novelty) a world-time display. You say complex, we say exciting.

Omega Goes Complicated with the Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer (Hands-On)

This year marks the 15th anniversary of one of the most discreet yet desirable collections of Omega, the Seamaster Aqua Terra. In order to celebrate, Omega slightly refreshed the classical model (3-hand and date version), by giving it some more modern details, new Master Chronometer movements and new dial variations. Yet, this 2017 collection will also include a more complex and highly luxurious piece, with an unprecedented complication for the Biel-based brand; a Worldtimer – and this Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer debuts in a highly limited solid platinum edition…

Hands On With The Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture Brown Dial

It sounds cliché but the Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture Brown Dial really is a great watch for the money. The combination of the practical functionality of a world-timer complication with a rich rose gold plated and brown aesthetic makes for a very distinctive looking watch that’s sure to make a statement on your wrist without wreaking too much havoc on your actual bank statement. As with all Frederique Constant pieces however, there’s more to this watch than meets the eye.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Collection Sector Dials (Celebrating 25 years of Precision)

25 years ago, the highly-respectable manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre innovated not with a new complication or a new material, but by implementing the “1000 Hours Control” procedure, an in-house certification comprising a series of radical tests to ensure that the watches are reliable and precise. As a tribute to this anniversary, Jaeger-LeCoultre had no best idea than to create a entire new collection of Master Control, with just stunning sector dials. Today on Monochrome, we take a look at these 3 watches: the Master Chronograph, the Master Geographic and the Master Control Date (and wait to see the prices…)

New Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle World Time, with Incredibly Detailed Enamel Dial

Surprisingly, just a few weeks after the SIHH 2017, and without showing it to the press, Vacheron Constantin is today introducing a new iteration of the Traditionnelle World Time. No complaints yet, as we’re not going to hide our pleasure to see this watch, a well-known piece (explained here), back – and with an incredibly detailed dial, done by the hands of trained craftsmen, in enamel. Here is the new Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle World Time with Enamel Dial.

Pre-Baselworld 2017 – Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture Brown Dial

We told you several times, the Word-Time complication is certainly the best answer to the issues of current business habits. Many of us are frequent travelers or work in an international environment, switching timezones (virtually or literally) more often than we change shirt. The need for a watch that displays multiple time-zones has never been so high. However, as we’ve seen, World-Time watches can go from quite accessible to insanely expensive. For that, Frederique Constant has a nice offer, affordable for sure, but also full of technical content (in-house movement and module, interesting way to adjust…); the Classic Worldtimer Manufacture. For Baselworld 2017, this watch will be introduced in a pink gold plated / brown dial combination.

Introducing – A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 TimeZone Dresden Edition in Honey Gold (and with one little detail that makes it special…)

Do we have to introduce the Lange 1 to you, dear readers? If you’re here, reading at Monochrome, you certainly don’t need us to go full details about what certainly is one of the prettiest modern horological icons. The Lange 1 and its derivatives are well-known from watch enthusiasts since 1994, and for very good reasons. This is the main reason why, when a new edition is revealed, there’s always a sort of sentimental feel at the redaction – remember that the Lange 1 was (among others) the first watch introduced when Lange came back to life. And this why we’d like to introduce to you the new A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 TimeZone Dresden Edition in Honey Gold (and the one little detail that makes it quite special…)
