Hands-On Sinn 6052 Review – The Frankfurt Financial District Watch

We always had a slight preference for Sinn watches that we would categorize as tool watches: the 140/142, 103, EZM series, 358, 756, 856 and so on. However, there’s more to Sinn than these watches for professional use only. They also have collections like the ‘Klassische Meisterwerke’ (dress watches basically), ladies’ watches and of course, […]

IN-DEPTH: The Baume & Mercier Clifton Complete Calendar Chronograph

baume-mercier-clifton-complete-calendar-chronograph-sliderThe story in a second Baume & Mercier’s Clifton always had a pretty face. Well, that face just got complicated. It’s hardly a secret. We like the Clifton at Time+Tide. It’s a well-balanced collection that walks a fine line between dressy and casual, retro and modern, all while being very well priced. Typically, though, these Baume & Mercier watches tend towards the simpler complications – calendar or moonphase or date – that sort of thing. Today we’re looking at a Clifton that loads all these complications into one watch. In theory it sounds good – more bang for buck, right? But in reality does all this added functionality detract from the simple allure of the Clifton? There’s only one way for us to find out. The dial As is immediately obvious, there’s a fair bit going on here, but the Clifton does a good job of conveying a large amount of information with as little fuss as possible. First of all, the blued hands indicate chronograph functions – central seconds, with minutes and hours at 12 and six respectively. The subdial at 12 also has windows displaying day and month, while the date is displayed via the red tip central hand.…

ADVENT CALENDAR 2016: December 14 – The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph

Omaga-Seamaster-Planet-Ocean-Chronograph-3What’s that, Rudolph? You’re worried about Santa being on time this Christmas? Understandable. Maybe get him one of these, then. This Planet Ocean Chrono is large and in charge – with massive wrist presence that will be a huge help for keeping an eye on his forthcoming deadlines. Plus, while steel versions of this watch require some heavy lifting, the titanium case of this model significantly cuts down the weight, meaning less effort for you and the rest of the reindeer. Who should you buy this for:  If not Santa, then certainly someone sizeable. This has no place on a spindly forearm – which rules it out for Frosty the Snowman. What’s the damage: Under $13k Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Master Chronometer Chronograph 45.5mm titanium Australian pricing The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Master Chronometer Chronograph 45.5mm in titanium on rubber strap, $12,900.

TAG Heuer Reboots a 1990s Classic with the New Link Lady

A reboot of the original, the new Link Lady features the unusual combination of a cushion-shaped case and sculpted s-shaped links. As anyone who was young in the late 1980s or 1990s can attest, the TAG Heuer S/el – short for “sport elegance” – was one of the quintessential watches of the era. Endlessly copied and […]

Introducing: The Casio G-Shock ‘Hammer Tone’ MRG-G10000HG-9A In Gold, Celebrating 20 Years Of MR-G

Casio’s G-Shock is probably the most widely known and loved ultra-tough tool watch in the world, and for much of its history, it’s been just about everywhere humans have gone and needed a watch that can take considerably more punishment than would be needed to kill its owner. However, the G-Shock is more than that – it’s become a symbol as well, thanks partly to its incredible durability as well as the instant recognition G-Shocks enjoy, despite the diversity of G-Shock designs. It has also, thanks to its adoption by many celebrities, become one of the most unlikely, if widely visible, status symbol watches – as well as a vehicle for expressing the combination of technology, and traditional cultural values of Japan.

Introducing: The Girard-Perregaux Laureato 34

In anticipation of its debut at SIHH 2017 Girard-Perregaux has released a couple teasers, including a new addition to the iconic Laureato Collection. Initially released in 1975, the Laureato is known for its steel case construction and integrated bracelet (in fact it looks eerily similar to the Vacheron Constantin Overseas). Next year, Girard-Perregaux celebrates their 225th Anniversary and are revamping the classic Laureato collection with a new ladies’ timepiece.
