Introducing: The A. Lange & Söhne Richard Lange ‘Pour le Mérite’ In White Gold With A Black Dial (The Baddest Time-Only Watch Around)

An annual gathering of watch retailers talking shop might not sound like the most exhilarating event on the planet, but A. Lange & Söhne just used its international dealer’s conference as a platform for launching what is without a doubt the coolest watch in the current Lange lineup. Meet the new Richard Lange ‘Pour le Mérite,’ a limited-edition release with a white gold case and a striking black dial. It’s also approximately 30% less expensive than the last Pour le Mérite in pink gold. This could just be the baddest time-only watch available today.

You’re Invited: HODINKEE Is Hosting A Meet-Up In Los Angeles, TODAY

This week some members of the HODINKEE team are out west in Los Angeles, working on some really incredible stories (seriously, we can’t wait to share them with you soon). Rado has collaborated with industrial designer Konstantin Grcic to breathe life into an already well-known piece with the new Rado Ceramica Konstantin Grcic watch (at least, that’s how we’ll refer to it). Introducing – A. Lange & Söhne Richard Lange “Pour le Mérite” now in White Gold with Black Dial

When the words “Pour le Mérite” are attached to the name “A. Lange & Söhne“, you know it’s going to be hard to resist and you know it’s going to be complicated. Why? This nomenclature in Lange’s collections means a watch equipped with a fusée and chain transmission (like this one or the outstanding Tourbograph) – and that is far from being an usual construction for a wristwatch. First introduced in 2009 in a limited edition of 200 pieces in pink gold and 50 pieces in platinum, the A. Lange & Söhne Richard Lange “Pour le Mérite” was supposed to be sold out… Well, thankfully it’s back, in a new limited run of 218 pieces, now in white gold with a stunning black dial.

Breaking News: Phillips To Offer Patek Philippe 1518 In Rose Gold, Yellow Gold, AND Stainless Steel At The Geneva Watch Auction: Four In November

This, folks, is horological madness. A few weeks ago I showed you four Patek Philippe 5970s, one in each metal, all together, but now I think I can up the ante. We have learned from a source at Phillips that the Geneva Watch Auction: Four sale taking place in November will include three, yes three, Patek Philippe 1518s, one each in yellow gold, rose gold, and stainless steel. This is the first time every case metal of the 1518 has been available in a single auction. We broke news of the steel 1518 hitting the block back in July, but we didn’t know it would be accompanied in the catalog by two of its 280 sisters. Here are all the details about these three absolute mega watches.

Hands-On with the Breguet Tradition Dame 7038, the First for Ladies

The original Breguet La Tradition 7027 is a milestone in modern watchmaking, not so much for its complication since it had none, but for its design. With the movement rearranged symmetrically for the open-worked dial, the La Tradition was a groundbreaking design when it was introduced in 2005, despite being based on 200-year old pocket watches. And […]
