Introducing – Bovet Virtuoso VII, Now with Vibrant Green or Red Guilloché Enamel Dials

With such a concentration of technical and artistic talent under one roof, Pascal Raffy – owner of Bovet – can really let his imagination soar when it comes to combining complications and decorating them. The new Virtuoso VII is, in essence, a perpetual calendar with retrograde date, a sophisticated complication in itself but with a […]

The Collector’s Series – @winewhiskywatches and his Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance with Kari Voutilainen Guilloché Dial

After we relaunched The Collector’s Series last week, with Brice interviewing myself about my lovely old Daniel Roth Small Seconds with salmon-colour dial, we reached out to a few collectors. What I have always liked so much about this series is to find out more about the motivation of why people buy a particular watch. We spend a (more often than not) serious budget on something that tells time, but more importantly, gives pleasure. And I love to tap into that and find out what drives a collector to make his/her choice; what’s the ‘rationale’ behind a choice. Today we’re proud to feature someone with a remarkably good Instagram name, namely @WineWhiskyWatches, and we’re talking about his Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance with a beautiful guilloche dial by Kari Voutilainen.

Czapek has just launched a new communication campaign with a tagline ‘We collect rare people’. The idea is that nothing would have been possible without the Czapek community. First and foremost, the brand’s clients. Its shareholders too, as the brand started as a crowdfunding concept. Last but not least, suppliers, who play an important role. […]

It is hard to believe but MB&F is presenting its tenth Horological Machine today… without counting the multiple of editions introduced for each model. 15 years ago a man named Max Büsser, surrounded by his friends, launched a brand that would become one of the most respected of the indie scene. Introducing – Emile Chouriet Lac Léman Classic Chronometer

Jean Depéry, a Swiss micro engineer with a fascination for watchmaking, founded the Geneva-based watch brand Emile Chouriet in 1998 and named his company after an 18th-century watchmaker. It turns out that one of Dépery’s ancestors had produced components for Emile Chouriet. A family-run business today, Dépery has a manufacture in Meyrin, a municipality of […]

Review – The Model 500-GMT by American Watchmaker RGM

We’ve covered American watchmaker RGM on several occasions as it is, for the most part, the only true vertically integrated manufacturer in the US. Weiss Watch Company in Los Angeles has the in-house calibre 1003, but it’s generally an ETA/Unitas 6497 copy. That’s certainly not a bad thing but doesn’t match the unique designs and […]
