Only Watch 2019 – Voutilainen TP1 Only Watch 2019 – a Pocket Watch, a Collaboration, a Voutilainen

At the time of mass-produced everything, one of the hidden gems of Only Watch 2019 is a creation by Kari Voutilainen, one of the most revered craftsmen in the entire watch industry. The Voutilainen TP1 stands out for being a pocket watch and … the first collaboration between Kari Voutilainen and his daughter, Venla, 20 years old, freshly graduated from watchmaking school. The design of the case and dial was made by Kari; Venla chose the colours and the decoration of the movement.

Independent Watchmaking – In Conversation with Kari Voutilainen

Kari Voutilainen is one of the most respected and revered independent watchmakers. The watches of this Finnish-born master watchmaker (no more than 50 pieces per year) are crafted to a level that cannot be achieved in mass production. We climbed the steep stairway of his Môtiers workshop to meet the master and understand why he is determined to remain an independent watchmaker.

NEWS – The Chopard Full Strike Wins the GPHG 2017 “Aiguille d’Or” (And all the results of the Grand Prix)

As you’ve probably seen through the live feed we provided to you, today was the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, also known as the Oscars of the Watchmaking Industry, celebrating the best watches (via 12 different categories, for 16 different prizes) of the year. While in 2016 the “Aiguille d’Or” (the prize for the best watch of the year) went to Ferdinand Berthoud and their superb FB1 watch. Well, if a brand can’t win twice in rough the GPHG, the “Aiguille d’Or” will, however, remain in the hands of the Scheufele family, as the winner of the GPHG 2017 is Chopard and the impressive Full Strike.

Hands-On – Kari Voutilainen Vingt-8 ISO with a different way to read time

Over the years we got to know Kari Voutilainen as the humble Finnish watchmaker, who creates the most exquisite hand-finished timepieces. In the entire world of watchmaking there are only few who deliver such a level of “finesse”. Kari Voutilainen’s latest timepiece is not simply a design feat, and also not a special model made in collaboration with a master craftsman (like for instance this one made in collaboration with the legendary Japanese lacquer studio Unryuan). What we have here is Kari Voutilainen’s signature timepiece, the Vingt-8, with a unique way to indicate time. It’s called the Vingt-8 ISO and the entire idea behind it is rather unique, and is mean to create a more intimate and reflective relationship with your watch… (yes, we’ll explain it)

Give Me Five! 5 Of The Most Colorful Watches Of 2016 From Richard Mille, HYT, Fabergé, GoS, and Kari Voutilainen

The year 2016 was at times grey and sullen, while at other times it rained purple, red, or blue and a host of other vibrant (and symbolic) colors. There was also a crop of colorful watches to stand out from the masses of new steel and titanium-encased horology, titillating the senses with bursts of fresh color. Here are five-ish colorful watches that caught my eye last year from HYT, Richard Mille, Fabergé, GoS, and Kari Voutilainen.
