Introducing – Vacheron Patrimony Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Rose Gold and Blue Dial (Hands-On)

For over five years now, blue has been the predominant colour for watchmakers when it comes to the dress watch. Blue is elegant, dressy and has this small “je ne sais quoi” about it that a black or silver dial doesn’t deliver… But not all blue watches are born equal. Some have a special pedigree, and Vacheron Constantin‘s models play in a different league (see the new Blue FIFTYSIX for instance). Today, an emblematic model from the Patrimony collection dons a midnight blue shade especially created for the line.

Vacheron Constantin expands its Overseas collection with the introduction of a sophisticated tourbillon complication. The first tourbillon model to debut in the Overseas collection, the complication injects a dose of Haute Horlogerie spectacle to the mix without jeopardising the solidity of a luxury sports watch designed for everyday wear. Presented in a stainless steel case with a striking blue dial and expected high-end finishes, the watch is fitted with Vacheron Constantin’s self-winding ultra-thin calibre 2160 and, like its fellow Overseas models, brings versatility to the table with three interchangeable bracelets/straps.

Now that the SIHH 2019 is over, it is time to sit down and to take a closer look at the dozens of watches that have been introduced. Overall, it has been a good year in terms of novelties – probably not the best edition ever, but still, there were some pretty interesting things to see, especially in the field of complication. Thus, you won’t be surprised to see that our selection of the 10 best watches of the show is quite “high-end” focused.
