VIDEO: The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Meca-10 King Gold with 240 hours power reserve is testosterone-drenched tech at its absolute finest

Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Meca-10 King GoldEditor’s note: As I go to post this review, something very sad just dawned on me. It’s been over three years since I’ve had a holiday as long as the power reserve of this watch. Which is 10 days. Ten. Days. Which means this watch would still be ticking after one wind upon my return from these far-too-short ‘holidays’. I digress, but that sad example goes a long way to establishing the technical credibility of this watch, and to proving the point that as soon as lockdown ends, I’m outta here for a while. Enjoy – Andrew  Hublot are well known for their patented brand of boldly designed and technologically advanced watchmaking, and if there’s one watch that embodies those qualities, it’s the Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Meca-10 King Gold. The barrel-inspired case measures an extroverted 45mm and is hewn from one of the brand’s in-house precious alloys in King Gold, which has an array of complex finishes. The exposed bezel screws, articulating case shape and black rubber strap all see to the fulfilment of the bold design requirement. And within this thoughtfully designed case is where the technologically advanced component is evident. Powering this warmly toned behemoth is Hublot’s manufacture Calibre…

VIDEO: See the Seiko Save The Ocean SRPE33K and SRPE39K dials for yourself (they’re insanely good for the price)

Seiko’s “Save The Ocean” program is an important one, helping raise much-needed funds for the conservation of the planet’s oceans. You can check out a couple of the places that benefit from Seiko’s work here and here, but today we’re looking at the watches that help raise money for these critical programs. This year, it’s all about the Seiko SRPE33K and SRPE39K, two references that offer what might be the most imaginative and spellbinding dial of the year at this exceedingly affordable price point. The Seiko SRPE39K is based on the classic Seiko turtle shape, the same as last year’s Seiko SRPD12K “Save The Ocean” edition, but with a couple of important changes. While the bracelet and movement remain the same, the key difference is in the shimmering blue dial, and the inky black ceramic bezel that elevates this watch into some very competitive territory. Similarly, the Seiko SRPE33K features the same blue gradient dial, with the faint outline of stingrays as though just below the water’s surface, and an eye-catching ceramic bezel. Even if you’ve already got a couple of Seiko watches in your collection, these two new offerings from the Japanese watchmaker are some of the most impressive pieces…

We have all 6 of the Seiko 5 Sports x STREET FIGHTER V Editions live on the wrist, and they're a box of coloured watch candy

Game on! Seiko have teamed up with the Street Fighter franchise to release a collection that is going to light up fans, but is also worth a look from a sheer aesthetics point of view – as you’ll see in this video collection review, there’s some crazy experimentation and colourways going on here. As we reported here, the Seiko 5 Sports x STREET FIGHTER V Editions were recently released, and they are six seriously interesting watches, each based on a key character from the game. Today, we’re excited to follow up with them live on the wrist. Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, Zangief and Blanka have their own watch that has been designed to perfectly fit each of their character’s looks and costumes, as well as their special move printed on the caseback.  All six of the different references use the same Seiko 5 Sports canvas, measuring 42.5mm in diameter, offering 100m of water resistance and powered by the automatic 4R36 movement. But that is where the similarities end, with each piece featuring unique case, dial, bezel and strap configurations to most accurately reflect the character they are based on.  Seiko Street Fighter collection price and availability: All pieces from the Seiko Street…

VIDEO: Seiko is donating the proceeds of one Presage SRQ033J1 Porco Rosso Limited Edition which you can buy here

Seiko Presage SRQ033J1 Porco Rosso Limited EditionFor fans of the prolific Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli, the name Porco Rosso will be familiar to you. He’s the ace biplane pilot who learned the art of flying in World War I, before being turned into a pig and then, turning his skills to fighting pirate crime. He has legions of fans around the world. What does this have to do with Seiko? Well, the Japanese watchmaker has teamed up with the Japanese animation studio to produce two (legitimately limited) limited edition watches, one of which is the Seiko Presage SRQ033J1 Porco Rosso Limited Edition, in only 600 pieces. The stylish pilot’s chronograph features a number of subtle nods to the Italian flying pig, including the stripes of the Italian flag in the 3 o’clock sub-dial, which matches the red, white and green stitches in the crocodile leather strap. If you flip the watch over, you’ll be greeted by Porco Rosso’s face on the sapphire crystal caseback, as well as the engraving, “Un maiale che non vola è solo un maiale”, which translates as, “A pig that does not fly is just a pig”. If that wasn’t enough, the 42mm steel watch also features a stunning enamel dial…
